Friday, 27 June Leipzig | Start 1st race: 5.45 pm

Horses, music and drinks: The Scheibenholz invites you to the popular party race day on 27 June

From work straight to the racecourse: for the second race day of the season, the thoroughbreds will not start until around 5.30 pm, perfect for experiencing the sunset while watching exciting competitions. Admission starts at 4 pm. After the sixth race, the terrace in front of the atmospherically illuminated grandstand will be transformed into a party area with sledge bar DJ Holgaaar and the best party hits to sing along to.

The party race day at Scheibenholz is becoming increasingly popular and has great potential. This year, we have therefore moved the race day from Thursday evening to Friday evening in the hope of attracting even more spectators than in previous years. While around 2,000 guests attended the evening race day in the 2022 season, in 2023 and 2024 there were already almost 5,000 who did not want to miss the mix of exciting gallop racing and rhythmic sounds. We want to top that again this weekend. Advance sales are already beating all records," says a delighted Franziska Margalle, Head of Marketing at the racecourse.

Away from the racing, visitors can look forward to numerous food trailers and drinks bars that invite them to stroll and linger. A total of more than 30 betting booths will be available on the racecourse grounds where you can try your luck, and a betting school from Wettstar.de will be on hand to offer advice and assistance to ‘newcomers’. SachsenEnergie AG, the main sponsor of the race day, will have a photo box and an action mobile inside the racecourse with attractive prizes to be won.

The races on 27 June

Following the announcement of the starters on Tuesday, 24 June, the starting fields for Friday have been confirmed: 43 horses will compete in six races. The sporting highlight will be the SachsenEnergie AG Prize, a €8,000 level III race over a sprint distance of 1,000 metres. Galopp Leipzig e. V. is offering prize money totalling EUR 45,000.

With six starters from Dresden (trainer Stefan Richter), two starters from the local racing stable Marco Angermann, two starters from Halle (trainer Jan Korpas) and two starters from Möser (trainer Frank Fuhrmann and trainer Janina Boysen), the bettors can look forward to a Central German ‘showdown’. Numerous guests from the Czech Republic (9) will also be competing for places on the winners' podium.

True to the old turf adage ‘small fields, big money’, the second race of the day, an amateur race over 2,000 metres, should be really exciting once again. The interesting field is small but fine and completely open. In the saddle are amateur riders who are currently among the best in the country.

In addition to Leipzig crowd favourite ‘Eddie’ Pedroza, numerous jockeys from the ‘TOP 20 DER RENNREITER’ ranking list published by Deutscher Galopp will be in the saddle on 27 June, including Thore Hammer-Hansen (top of the ranking list), Leon Wolff (3rd place) and Lilli Marie-Engels (5th place).
